A formal portrait

I love the time couples allocate between the ceremony and the reception for photographs.  It’s this time that allows the creation of some beautiful portraits – and the more time allocated, the more variations one can create.  Here’s an example of a formal portrait created right after the ceremony.

Simplicity

Sometimes, the simpler a photograph is, the more beautiful it can be.  Here’s a shout out to simplicity.

Here’s Looking at You

Walking around Prague during a recent visit, I saw a lot of beautiful sights.  This one, however, seemed to be saying “here’s looking at you”!

First Dance

A couple’s first dance is more than just a dance.  It is a symbol of the start of something new.  Sometimes, that first dance brings you to tears.  This one did.

….and introducing….

The most anticipated moments during a wedding tend to be when the bride walks into the ceremony and when the couple walks into the reception.  It is when you hear “….and introducing….” that everyone stands up, cheers, and the celebration really starts.

Here’s one of those moments.

Tears of a father

If you look long enough during a wedding, you will see tears.  They are tears of joy and none are more joyful than the tears of a father.

Location? What location?

Everyone thinks about location first when taking portraits.  I want a photograph at such and such a place.  I learned early on that you think about light first and then background.  Sometimes, however, I find something that just makes me go “WOW!” and I have to create my own light.

Such was the case with this portrait.  We were in Las Colinas and I opened a door that lead to a garage.  When I looked inside and saw the symmetry and the low ceiling with the design, I knew I’d have to bring my own light into the room.  So I did – just before security came by and asked us to leave.

Here’s the results of that little adventure.

Sweet Tooth

Do you have a sweet tooth?  I do.  I admit it.  Weddings are great for those that attend and have a sweet tooth.  Not many things are tastier than wedding cakes or the other sweets one finds at weddings.

The Shot

Ever take a photograph and immediately know “this is THE SHOT”?  I did.  During a recent visit to Prague, I was walking along, saw an alleyway that was interesting, love the light, and then suddenly someone appeared walking toward me.  I clicked the shutter and I got THE SHOT.

I love the motion, the light, the framing, and the mystery behind this photograph.  I knew it as soon as I pressed the shutter release button that late afternoon.
